Day two of Play brings together an audiovisual live programme where diverse expressions of time, perception and space intersect.
Italian multimedia artist Riccardo Giovinetto presents his new work, H U M I. Generative visuals and sound depict an "imaginary geography" that shifts and merges beyond fixed borders, in an immersive AV performance.
Argentine-born, Spain-based Nicolás Melmann presents Música Aperta, an AV performance combining electroacoustic sound with abstract light and organic visuals. Resisting the fast pace of contemporary life, it conjures a space of stillness and contemplation.
A duo of Finnish musician Johanna Elina Sulkunen, based in Copenhagen, and visual artist Tapani Toivanen present SONORITY, a dreamlike AV performance merging the human voice, live electronics and the digital afterimage of the natural world.
And NEUROSCAN, the collaborative project between France's Canblaster and Neurotypique, makes its Japan debut. Developed through research at IRCAM, the project fuses modular synthesizer work spanning UK garage to IDM with real-time generative visuals.
