Seven Artists Explore Diverse Directions of
Audiovisual Expression Today
From piano and electronic sound to generative visuals, AI, voice and club-driven grooves, seven artists connect sound and image through radically different approaches.
Across DAY 2, distinct ideas and technologies reshape our sense of time, space and perception, offering a wide-angle view of where audiovisual expression stands today.
A/Visions 2: Composing Perception
Set in the vast theatrical space of Box1000, A/Visions 2 showcases audiovisual works at the highest international level. Hypnotic electronica and piano, physically charged band performance, and sound and image synchronized with extreme precision come together in three sharply contrasting approaches, each opening a different way of perceiving the space around us.
Hania Rani presents Chilling Bambino PL
Rooted in classical music while moving fluidly across jazz and electronics, the Polish pianist, composer and vocalist appears as Chilling Bambino, an ever-evolving alter ego born from a love of the Prophet synthesizer. Dark-tinted electronica, hypnotic rhythms and the raw sound of upright piano converge as she lets loose, drawing listeners into a sonic adventure shaped by constant renewal and reinvention.
Hear the project’s latest evolution come alive in a unique live setting!
mouse on the keys JP
Celebrating 20 years, this instrumental trio featuring Akira Kawasaki (drums), Daisuke Niitome (piano/keyboards) and Takamitsu Shiraeda (piano/keyboards) is known for its distinctive two-piano-and-drums sound. For MUTEK.JP 2026, they are preparing a custom performance, bringing a new audiovisual dimension to their explorations of ambient music and techno minimalism. Joined by violinist Shuntaro Tsuneta and VJ rokapenis, acoustic physicality and digital expression converge through repetition, fluctuation and immersive visuals.
Experience this one-of-a-kind 20th anniversary performance at MUTEK.JP 2026.
Ryoichi Kurokawa JP/DE — nD
A trailblazer in audiovisual art for over 20 years, the Berlin-based artist and composer presents nD, the third iteration of the long-running cm:av_c project.
Across a diptych, sound and vision, abstraction and concreteness, meaning and meaninglessness fluctuate between duality and non-duality, shifting perception between separation and inseparability. Stripped of narrative meaning, the work seeks a pure, high-density audiovisual state.
Witness its direct, intensely sensory impact unfold live.
Play 2: Interfaces of Perception
At the Box300 room, AI-reconstructed geographies, shifts in the perception of time through sound and light, voice interacting with real-time visuals, and club grooves driving audio-reactive imagery. In Play 2 four distinct systems and artistic approaches continuously reshape the relationship between sound, light and image, opening different routes into perception and space.
NEUROSCAN (Canblaster & Neurotypique) FR
A collaboration between an electronic musician working across modular synthesis, UK garage and IDM, and an artist creating generative visuals in TouchDesigner.
Developed through research at IRCAM, sound and image connect in real time, with each sonic impulse generating a morphing visual response. Club music’s physicality meets a research-driven approach as light, motion and sound react as one system.
Don’t miss this specially crafted audio-reactive environment.
Johanna Elina Sulkunen & Tapani Toivanen FI/DK — SONORITY
A composer, vocalist and sound artist who approaches the voice as a living system meets an artist working with GPU programming, simulation and real-time visuals. SONORITY integrates the human voice, electronic sound, and generated visuals into a single system. Changes in breathing and vocalization are instantly reflected in the visuals, expanding the work's themes from the physical body to encompass perception and ecology.
Encounter voice and image transform in real time.
Riccardo Giovinetto IT — H U M Ī
A visual and multimedia artist, physicist and university professor, Giovinetto’s practice spans immersive installations and algorithmic composition.
In H U M Ī, high-definition samples from remote regions of Earth are processed through AI, as coastlines, surfaces and urban textures shift into imagined geographies. Quadraphonic sound responds to the images in real time, creating a space where sight and sound interact.
Enter a geography in continual metamorphosis, shaped live before you.
Nicolás Melmann AR/ES — Música Aperta
A sound artist and composer exploring the social and poetic dimensions of sound through field recording, data sonification, installation and spoken word. Twenty years after his first show and ten years after his first performance in Japan, Nicolás returns to perform a special anniversary set of Música Aperta, combining string drones, bowls and organ with visuals inspired by abstract film and early microscopic imagery.
Immerse yourself in a space for stillness and concentration, with an altered sense of time.
Moving across classical music, club culture, acoustic performance, AI and generative systems, Day 2 brings radically different artistic methods into a single night. Across seven performances, sound and image reshape our perception of time and space in strikingly different ways.
Experience this impactful range of contrasts live.
