Pero and The Electric MachineCA

The mysterious figure behind both Pero and his electro-punk band The Electric Machine is none other than Montreal's own Samuel Perreault, a longtime local DJ who began releasing music in 2002 on Mossa's Complot and then on Eloi Brunelle's Epsilonlab imprint. Since then he has released several EP's on his netlabel, Peromusic and on Epsilonlab as well. Not one to sit down at his laptop for live performances, Perreault has instead opted to bolster the eye-catching dynamic of his shows with synthesizers and with children's keyboards and other toys. But don't be fooled into thinking that this will be children's music. Rather, Perreault specializes in blending the distorted industrial stomp of 80's EBM artists like Nitzer Ebb and Front 242 into the structure of today's dance music, a mordant mix of minimal techno and electro as filtered through the unassuming toys that children love. The results are gnarled and strangely catchy, layered with creepy vocals culled straight out of the funhouse.
