Maxime Boutin is a multidisciplinary artist-researcher-skater developing the concept of Texturology. His artistic practice materializes through video, sculptural, and recently, photographic and sound installations. It is inspired by skateboarding, which animate a need to transpose the sensory experience of a vertigo: the one we seek. He holds a master's degree from the School of Fine Arts in Montpellier, France (Mo.Co) and since 2016 has been pursuing a PhD in art studies and practices at UQÀM (Université du Québec À Montréal). His research is supported by the Hexagram network and the Fonds de recherche du Québec, société et culture (FRQSC).

Maxime Boutin FR/QCTexturologie vibratoire

Video, sound and light installation on a skateboard exploration of urban space. Texturologie vibratoire is a research-creation project that presents the skateboard as a mode of exploration of urban space: a textured place with experiential potential, where the materials that form the ground can generate a certain musicality and reveal a kind of vibratory and audio identity. This sensory perspective is approached using and redirecting the sensor of an action camera toward the development of a video, sound, and light installation.
