Title: Copy and / against Duplication - Dissolutions in / of / with Xerrox series (2007–2024)

Carsten Nicolai released the album Xerrox Vol.1 in 2007, and with last year’s release of Vol.5, he brought the series to its conclusion. This body of work reveals the fundamental aspects of the creative act, clearly expressing the artist’s radical thinking and practical approach. In this talk, we will focus on the inseparable relationship between artistic creation and the artist’s own perception. After the talk, we will screen the new work Wave Weave (2025), created in collaboration with HOSOO, a long-established Kyoto Nishijin textile house. This audiovisual piece explores the fusion of sound and textiles, unfolding through scenes of the textile workshop and its looms, revealing how visual scores derived from spectrograms are translated into woven patterns.
