MUTEK.JP 2025 kicks off on Thursday, November 20 at Shibuya WWW with the opening program A/Visions. Montreal-based media artist Martin Messier will present his new work 1 drop 1000 years, an immersive audiovisual performance that fuses sound, light, and movement while exploring the Earth’s ocean currents and the impacts of climate change. Noémi Büchi, a composer and sound artist based in Zurich, makes the Asian premiere of her immersive AV show Does It Still Matter. The evening also features a trio performance by Jim O’Rourke, Eiko Ishibashi, and Joe Talia, weaving together electroacoustic soundscapes and drums in a dynamic, experimental improvisation. Expect a night that pushes the boundaries of music and digital art through bold, exploratory approaches.
