Synichi Yamamoto + Seiichi Sega & Intercity-Expressjp
Synichi Yamamoto is Japanese media artist that has been exploring the visual image through an experimental approach that is rooted in methods of electronic music rather than traditional cinematography. Active since the 90s Yamamoto has presented his works at a wide range of media art festivals in Japan and abroad, which saw frequent collaborations with fellow artists such as Rei Harakami, Intercity-Express and Corey Fuller. Together with Miraikan - the National Museum of Emerging Science Yamamoto conducted research in the full-dome environment, which resulted in a series of audiovisual performances in this immersive space. His collaborations with MUTEK.JP are frequent and thus far included audiovisual performances, XR experiences in public spaces, and participation in the Japan Media Arts Distributed Museum exhibition at Haneda Airport.
Intercity-Express is an audiovisual project by Tokyo-based artist Tetsuji Ohno. Ohno started working as a DJ from the mid 90's and advanced towards producing his own works by the turn of the millennium. Besides his audiovisual performances, he works as a music composer and producer for commercials and advertising. Throughout his journey as a musician he incorporated many different styles and genres, ranging from house to techno, to noise and electronica. Intercity-Express's very own sound is a synesthesia of all these different influences. Recent performances and exhibitions include MUTEK Montréal, MUTEK.JP, Scopitone Festival in France, Sunscape Festival in Malta, FILE in Brazil, LPM in Italy and the Netherlands and HPL media street event in Russia.
Seiichi Sega belongs to PARTY, Sega has worked on numerous video works and developed high-end CG that brings about generative and physical simulations as an expression of an abstract approach. In recent years, he directed TV title-backs and corporate branding. As an artist, he has presented artworks and given live performances in Japan and abroad. With a production method that moves back and forth between concepts and algorithms, he has been involved in video production with various devices such as full-dome stereoscopic view, spherical displays, and cube displays.
Synichi Yamamoto + Seiichi Sega & Intercity-Express JP — Noesis (2021version) - LIVE
Noesis is an immersive audiovisual work by Synichi Yamamoto + Seiichi Sega & Intercity-Express. The work was selected as a Jury Recommended Work at the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival, and premiered at MUTEK.JP in 2017. It has since been performed live at MUTEK Montreal, as well as in Mexico and Belgium. For the 2021 MUTEK.JP Edition the artists will present an updated live version with 4K stereoscopic view and 8.1ch sound, optimized for the newly renovated "Dome Theater Gaia" at Miraikan.
