Kohui explores relationships connected to sound through the act of sensing it. Observing natural phenomena, forms, and methods, he constructs algorithms that create relationships between predictability and unpredictability. He reconstructs these relationships, expanding how sound is perceived and shaping perspectives on nature, humanity, and sound.

He has presented audiovisual performances at WeSA Festival, ACT Festival, SICMF, MUTEK Montreal, and MUTEK X INSCAPE and exhibited in group shows at the National Asia Culture Center, Seoul Museum of Art, Platform-L, and Dialog(). He was selected as a HYUNDAI ZER01NE Creator in 2022 and co-founded the artist collective TAKA. He has served as an adjunct professor at the Korea National University of Arts.

Kohui Struere

Struere is a relational structure formed through a performative act of stacking, composing, and organizing the basic geometric forms of point, line, and plane. Points, lines, and planes are conceptual units for perceiving space and form; although they do not possess physical substance, within virtual space they are materialized through computation and revealed as operational realities of point, line, and plane—vertex, edge, and face. Struere arranges, combines, and connects these elements, generating flows and balancing relationships to form structures and produce spatial events.

As architecture in the physical world forms structure and composes space, in digital space the relationships among points, lines, and planes form structure and compose space. While physical architecture, grounded in the laws of matter, entails hierarchies among structural elements, in the digital environment points, lines, and planes are treated as equal computational entities, dissolving hierarchy within structure and space. As the coordinates of these simultaneously computed elements continuously shift, the structure of Struere expands into a variable state of structural–spatial configuration.

The structure of Struere appears on the screen of an actual architectural surface, creating a point of intersection where the architectural structure that forms physical space and the digital structure–space cross. Through their juxtaposition, the difference in order between physical and digital structures is revealed, exploring new structural sensibilities generated in digital space.
