Eq ( E.O.U + vq )JP
Eq
Eq is a joint-session project by E.O.U, whose playful live performances and DJ sets pulse with energy, and vq, who uses multiple smartphones as musical instruments. Together, they roam a realm of freedom expanded through play, drawing on the organic and improvisational qualities of sound.
E.O.U
Born in 2000, E.O.U is a musician and writer who gathers sounds, music, symbols, atmospheric textures, and their contours from across the world, reworking them with a singular sensibility into tracks, DJ sets, live performances, and audiovisual works.
Following the release of his debut mixtape estream in 2022, he established his own label, halo, maintaining an active release schedule. His work crosses borders and genres, encompassing the resident party loopな at Tokyo’s WWWβ and appearances at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL, Festival de FRUE, and POP YOURS.
In 2024, he presented e野点, a tea gathering exploring the intersection of ambient music and tea ceremony, as part of Kyoto Art Center’s Meirin Tea Ceremony series. That same year, he further expanded his activities with a tour of China.
vq
vq is a Japanese artist based in Tokyo who performs using multiple smartphones as musical instruments. A wandering troubadour of the post-digital age, vq moves between international performances and major events while living between Tokyo’s internet cafés and friends’ homes.
Emerging from the new generation of rap that took shape on SoundCloud, vq has performed in Japan and internationally, including events organised by 626company in China and a European tour.
Through experimental, improvisational performances—including a 48-hour solo show—vq brings music, space, and the body into a single experience. Moving between post-internet sensibilities and live encounters that are intensely digital yet deeply physical, vq continues to develop new forms of expression.
