Digi Lab 3: Creative Lab by Ableton

Exploring the forefront of music and technology, MUTEK.JP celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special collaboration with Ableton Japan. This session welcomes three leading Japanese artists — Daito Manabe, Kuniyuki, and Kyoka + Ami Kusakari — to share how they each use Ableton products in their creative processes.

As an artist and programmer active both in Japan and internationally, Daito Manabe will present his experimental approach that bridges AI, real-time processing, and music production. He will discuss his custom tools for Ableton Live and how he uses cutting-edge generative technologies in sound creation, offering insights into the intersection of technology and creativity.

Kuniyuki will give a rare look into the setup behind his renowned live performances. He will share his techniques for improvisation using Ableton Live and Looper, and the unique methods he has refined through years of live experience.

Meanwhile, Kyoka + Ami Kusakari will delve into the making of their live set premiering at MUTEK.JP 2025. They will discuss how they build their compositions in Ableton Live, design their performance setups, and integrate tools into their track production — providing a practical, behind-the-scenes look at their creative workflow.

This special session offers a glimpse into how each artist shapes their music through Ableton, revealing the creative processes behind their sound. It promises to be an inspiring experience not only for music creators but also for anyone interested in the future of sound and technology.
