TiNDCA/QC

Montréal video art group TiND (thisisnotdesign) experiments in the spaces between audio and video, hacking video signals, distortion pedals and 8 bit machinery, to build expansive real time visuals that blend expertly prepared images with deft improvisation. Active since 2001, TiND mixes analog with digital, old tech with new, electronic errors with glitchy perfection, drawing us deeper into music through digital abstraction and cinematic illusions rife with feedback, synthetic waves and the neon fissures of a cracked television tube. Artists Francis Théberge and Mylène Cavana founded the collective as a way to explore rhythmic visuals, exploiting the nuances of the flickering screen for projects at Montréal’s Elektra and Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, Geneva’s Mapping Festival and MUTEK, intensifying two NOCTURNES in 2014. Expect similar affecting effects this year.
