The Immersive Collection marks MUTEK’s beginnings as a producer and publisher in the developing XR art market. Five artists and longtime collaborators of the festival step up to the challenge of creating in virtual reality, giving new life to outstanding audiovisual performances presented in previous editions. In keeping with MUTEK's characteristic approach to programming, the artists deliver an eclectic yet coherent collection of works.
In this presentation, Lola Baraldi, MUTEK’s XR production manager, will give insights into the reasonings, concepts, and development of the Immersive Collection. Following, artists France Jobin and Markus Heckmann, who translated their performance Entanglement, a radiant experiment at the crossroads of art and quantum physics, into the XR environment will share their thoughts on the challenges and opportunities of reimagining their artistic work into this new, immersive medium.
