Wasted Fates & Future Forward — Illuminations
Wasted Fates’, mexican producer Octavio Kh, arsenal is a hard-hitting collection of Latin American rhythms filtered through the global vanguard. Articulating and cross-pollinating old dance genres into new territories, a sense of quietness sips on many of his musical productions, a breath of fresh air and deep thought before a barrage of well-laden rhythmic structures from the rest of the world arrive.
Wasted Fates has been exploring weirdest ends of the dance floor for nearly fifteen years. His most notorious work has been released through the Ecstasy and NAAFI labels, a collective where he is constantly active in various collaborations. His music encompasses a tour de force based on some of the club rhythms that are dominating the global circuit; there is acid dembow, there is grime, there are bass and spikes of Latin sounds, all sifted by that dark force that has characterized the live sound of Wasted Fates in the last years. His most recent output, on his own Physis label, are a couple of New Age ambient EP’s that reflect a more meditative side of Wasted Fates, a mood that is in constant shift, focused and brilliant, serving as passing and fluctuating landscapes for the inner self or maybe as a collapsing soundtrack for the dramatically challenging times we are living through.
