Hugues Sweeney - ONF / NFBCA

After several years studying philosophy, literature and death metal, Hugues Sweeney became interested in stories as much as the opportunities that technology offers to tell them. Beginning his career first in new media at Radio-Canada, then as head of Bande à Part and Espace Musique, he joined the National Film Board of Canada in 2009 as Executive Producer of interactive works. Continually experimenting with the grammar of interaction, in sound creation or in generative art, projects from the interactive studio of the NFB have received more than 150 awards and honours around the world—including a Gemini award, a Webby and mentions at SXSW and Japan Media Arts. Deeply involved in his community, Hugues has served as president of MUTEK's Board, is currently vice-chair of the Board of Directors of the Montreal Arts Council and co-chair of the Digital Commission of Culture Montréal. He also contributes to the strategic thinking of the Montréal Symphony Orchestra and Quartier des spectacles.
